Scale Testing Docker Swarm to 30,000 Containers

1,000 nodes, 30,000 containers, 1 Swarm manager Swarm is the easiest way to run Docker app in production. It lets you take an an app that you’ve built in development and deploy it across a cluster of servers. Recently we took Swarm out beta and released version 1.0. It’s being used by people like O’Reilly for building authoring tools, the Distributed Systems Group at Eurecom for doing scientific research, and Rackspace who built their new container service, Carina, on top of it.

Docker Online Meetups #28 and #29: Production-Ready Docker Swarm and Docker Networking is Now GA

This week, we hosted two Docker Online Meetups. The first on Wednesday featured Alexander Beslic presenting on production-ready Swarm. For the second one on Thursday, Madhu Venugopal discussed the recently-GA Docker Networking. Below are the recorded videos and slides from both presentations.

Orchestrating Docker with Machine, Swarm and Compose

Back in December, we announced our new tools for orchestrating distributed apps: Machine, Swarm, and Compose. Today the first versions of these tools are available to download. They’re not ready for production yet, but we’d really like for you to try them out and tell us what you think. Machine takes you from “zero-to-Docker” with a single command. It lets you easily deploy Docker Engines on your computer, on cloud providers, and in your own data center. Read more and download on Machine’s blog post. Swarm is native clustering for Docker containers. It pools together several Docker Engines into a single, virtual host. Point a Docker client or third party tool (e.g., Compose, Dokku, Shipyard, Jenkins, the Docker client, etc.) at Swarm and it will transparently scale to multiple hosts. A beta version of Swarm is now available, and we’re Continue reading…

DockerCon EU: Introducing Docker Swarm

At DockerCon EU we introduced Docker Swarm: a Docker-native clustering system. It allows you to connect to a single Docker endpoint and run containers on an entire cluster. Docker Swarm comes with a simple discovery service, for an easy setup. If you already have a discover service within your infrastructure like consul or etcd, you can use those instead.
