Introducing the Docker Captains

We receive many requests from the Docker community for help identifying experts who can answer questions on different forums like Stack Overflow, share their knowledge in blog posts and online tutorials, and present at industry events like conferences and meetups. Today, we are proud to introduce the Docker community to the Docker Captains!

Docker Online Meetup #36: Docker for Windows and Mac

Docker for Mac and Docker for Windows are integrated, easy-to-deploy environments for building, assembling, and shipping applications from Mac or Windows. Docker for Mac and Windows contain many improvements over Docker Toolbox. During this week’s Docker Online Meetup, Product Managers Michael Chiang and Dave Tucker presented an overview of Docker for Mac and Windows followed by a demo of the beta and a Q&A session. Below are the recorded video and slides from the Docker Online Meetup.

Docker Birthday #3 Partners Share Why Diversity in Tech is Important

The Docker team is committed to ensuring that we create welcoming spaces for all members of the tech community. To proactively start working towards this goal, we have launched several initiatives to strengthen the Docker community and promote diversity in the larger tech community. One example is our DockerCon Scholarship Program, which will provide assistance to members of the Docker community from traditionally underrepresented minorities through mentorship and a financial scholarship to attend DockerCon 2016. For the Docker Birthday #3 celebrations, a major focus was to ensure that all of these events were inclusive for everyone attending. In order to accomplish this, we partnered with several leading organizations that are dedicated to promoting diversity in tech. We asked a few of these partners to share why diversity in tech is important to them:

Docker Birthday #3: Q&A with Solomon Hykes, Founder of Docker

To celebrate Docker’s 3rd birthday, we are inviting newcomers to the Docker community for a fun training on how to build, ship and run distributed applications with ease thanks to the Docker platform. The Docker community organized over 120 Docker Birthday celebrations in 50 countries across 5 continents. We are immensely grateful to our awesome meetup organizers and the over 580 Docker experts who signed up to help newcomers complete the training! We also partnered with several organizations to ensure that these events are inclusive for everyone attending including underrepresented minorities in the tech community. Stay tuned for a blog post later this week with more information on those efforts. We recently sat down with Docker founder, CTO and Chief Product Officer Solomon Hykes to reflect on the past three years. We asked Solomon what his birthday wishes were for Continue reading…

[#SwarmWeek Edition] Docker Online Meetup #35: Docker Swarm

As part of #SwarmWeek, we hosted a Docker Online Meetup all about Docker Swarm. Docker Swarm is native clustering for Docker. It turns a pool of Docker hosts into a single, virtual Docker host. Because Docker Swarm serves the standard Docker API, any tool that already communicates with a Docker daemon can use Swarm to transparently scale to multiple hosts. Victor Vieux, a Software Engineer working on the Swarm product, presented an overview of Swarm along with a demo and Jeff Nickoloff, author of “Docker in Action”, reviewed his findings from scaling Swarm and Kubernetes. Below are the recorded video and slides from the Docker Online Meetup.
