There is only one week left until DockerCon 2016 and we can’t contain our excitement for all of the new fun additions we have added to this year’s conference! With all of these amazing activities lined up, DockerCon is going to be one whale of a time. Below is just a teaser of the exciting things to come.
DockerCon 2016 After Party
The DockerCon After Party is a major highlight of the conference and this year is no different!
Held at the iconic Space Needle and Experience Music Project Museum, the DockerCon After Party has something to offer everyone. The evening will be memorable from the start as you take the historic Monorail system built for the 1962 World’s Fair to the party. Catch the monorail at Westlake Center Mall station located at Fifth Avenue and Pine Street. Your conference badge will serve as your ride fare.
Space Needle Experience sponsored by Datadog
DockerCon attendees will have full access to the EMP museum and exhibits, as well as a chance to take a ride up to the Observation Deck of the Space Needle which gives you a 360 degree view of the city, 520 feet up in the air.
The observation deck is not just a vantage for a great view. From its start as a sketch on a cocktail napkin, the Space Needle has stood tall as a beacon for “what if” thinking. Today, the Space Needle is taking that spirit above and beyond with new experiences that deliver more interaction, insights, connections, smiles and “wow”. Enjoy tasty food and libations while learning more from our exclusive Space Needle sponsor Datadog.
Sky Church and DJ Schmolli at the EMP Museum sponsored by IBM
Next up, head on over to the EMP museum for a night filled with music and fun exhibits thanks to our sponsor IBM. Back by popular demand DJ Schmolli will be set-up in the Sky Church where a 33’ x 60’ HD LED screen AKA Sky Church will captivate your senses. With full access to all the exhibits at the museum, you’ll come away from the evening having learned something new while networking and meeting fellow attendees.
The DockerCon After Party will certainly be a night to remember!
This year we have teamed up with Spousetivities to make sure DockerCon is a family affair! Options for activities include taking a tour of the Seattle sights, enjoying an afternoon of wine and chocolate, and even morning yoga classes led by Docker’s own Adam Herzog.
The Docker Community like to have fun together. So, this year we bump it up a notch with the DockerCon Bump Up game. You’ll earn points to raise your Docker rank, contribute towards a community goal and maybe even win a cool prize. You’ll get a starting rank based on your past Docker engagement, then move up when you get involved in activities at DockerCon.
So how does it work? At registration each attendee will receive a Bluetooth, LED wristband powered by PixMob and Docker. Once activated, you can start earning points to raise your rank, contribute to the community goal and improve your odds at winning top prizes. Points are centered around meeting others, learning at DockerCon and sharing your knowledge. See our website for more details.
Ask the Experts
Stop by the Ask the Experts tables in the Docker booth in the Ecosystem Expo to meet our Docker experts and get all your burning questions or issues answered! Docker experts are looking forward to talking to attendees about everything from general questions about how to run Docker in production to specific questions about Docker security, storage or networking best practices. Whiteboards will be set-up for you and the experts to work through your questions.
Many attendees at previous DockerCon conferences requested an area for quiet workspace at the conference. Voilà, Hack Rooms are another new addition at this year’s DockerCon as a direct result of attendee feedback!
There will be two Hack Rooms at this year’s DockerCon. One Hack Room will be open during conference hours at the Washington State Convention Center (the venue for DockerCon 2016). The other Hack Room will be open 24 hours at the Sheraton Hotel (the official DockerCon 2016 hotel).
While we encourage everyone to be networking and learning from each other, feel free to stop by for a coding power hour in the Hack Rooms. We’ll have Docker engineers roaming between the show floor and the rooms to mingle and answer any questions about projects.
Speaking of hacks, we are super excited to have the crew from Hack Harassment at DockerCon. They’ll be set up outside the Hack Room and are looking forward to talking to attendees about how to build better tools to hack online harassment!
$ docker run —
Interested in a morning run while at DockerCon? Awesome! Through our DockerCon App, we’ve set-up a $ Docker run channel for you to chat with attendees about setting up an AM run at DockerCon. Connect with your fellow DockerCon runners and get the blood flowing before a full day of DockerCon fun!
Mosaic Photo Wall
With these easy steps, you’ll be able to participate in an awesome interactive photo mural!
- Take a photo with the #DockerCon
- Post to Instagram and Twitter

Sticker Swap Table
Stickers are a huge part of our culture and this year we are excited to announce an awesome Sticker Swap Table sponsored by StickerMule! Located in the Ecosystem Expo Hall, this will be the spot for you to pick up stickers from the awesome DockerCon Sponsors! Want to bring your own project stickers to share with others? Please do! Throw some down, pick some up, it’s a sticker swap!
