As the countdown to DockerCon EU 2015 ticks away, we’re excited to introduce a new track and summit dedicated to the Docker Project’s open source community. This past July we had a blast discussing everything Project-related in the Contributor Zone in San Francisco, and decided to take it one step forward in Europe with four sessions for anyone looking to learn about and get involved in the Docker Project.
Take a look at what we’ve got planned:
Contribute & Collaborate
Having a hard time understanding how the different Docker projects fit together? Getting lost in Github issues and don’t know how to start contributing? Looking to catch up with your favorite Docker maintainers and discuss project roadmaps? Then the Contribute & Collaborate Track is for you.
With the first two sessions, geared towards new and prospective contributors, you’ll get an “Introduction to the Docker Project” from the very maintainers that manage the many different subprojects. You’ll learn about their day to day operations, from project roles to pull request workflows, and how to best keep up to date on the latest merges and roadmap items. Even more importantly, you’ll learn how to best start contributing and how to ask for help along the way.
• “Introduction to the Docker Project: engine, networking, swarm, distribution”
• “Introduction to the Docker Project: machine, kitematic, compose and more”
At the next two sessions, existing and advanced contributors can “Meet the Maintainers” of different subprojects to chat about ongoing design decisions and issues, open pull requests, and open areas for contributor help. This is a great chance to get more involved and gain an understanding of project initiatives that goes deeper than Github comments.
• “Meet the Docker Project Maintainers: engine, networking, swarm, distribution”
• “Meet the Docker Project Maintainers: machine, kitematic, compose and more”
If any of these are up your alley, keep an eye on the DockerCon EU agenda to work them into your conference schedule.
The DockerCon EU Contributor Summit is the place for people actively contributing to Docker to meet face to face and do the work best tackled in-person. Over a focused half day on November 18th, Docker maintainers will lead working groups to discuss the project’s challenges and propose actionable solutions that can impact everything from code and documentation to processes and testing. We have limited space available for the summit, so if you’re interested in attending please get in touch with a brief statement about why you’d like to participate.
Official Docker Training at DockerCon EU 2015
Looking to learn even more about Docker? Join us for the official Docker training on Wednesday November 18th right after DockerCon EU 2015 for DockerCon attendees who want to become Docker experts. Through instructor-led discussion and interactive, hands-on exercises, participants will understand the more advanced topics required to deploy Docker in Production. Learn more about the training here and register soon before we sell out our spots!
